Timaru South School fosters student achievement by providing teaching and learning programmes that incorporate the New Zealand Curriculum. Priority is given to student achievement in literacy and numeracy as well as regular physical activity that develop movement skills for all students. Timaru South School develops and implements effective assessment practices to identify students at risk of underachieving and / or those who have special needs. Timaru South School, in consultation with its Maori community, sets targets for improving achievement for Maori students and reports achievement to the Board of Trustees and the Maori community.

Title: Reviewing and Reporting
Timaru South School meets the intent of the National Education Goals through the development and implementation of its strategic and annual plans with particular emphasis on the curriculum, assessment and staff professional development. A regular programme of self-review is implemented to ensure goals are met and programmes and procedures are effective. The achievement of students, including reference to the achievement of Maori students, is identified and reported to the Board of Trustees and school community.

Timaru South School complies with all relevant legislation relating to finance and property management. School budgeting reflects the school charter and is monitored and reported on as required by the Public Finance Act 1989 and Education Act 1989.
